how long will my garden take?

timing is everything

creating a landscape is an exciting process - from the initial design to the construction, each step plays a crucial role in bringing your WILDEN garden to life.

almost without exception, these timeframes are underestimated by many outside of the industry, so let's take a closer look together…

design: 4-6 weeks
you’ve decided to invest in your home and make the garden special. don’t fall victim to the first hurdle and rush the design. work with someone (ahem, us) that spends time deeply considering what’s best; for you, the site, the house, and the land. a qualified designer will iterate ideas, and balance time in the artistic and practical head-spaces. at WILDEN we design in 2 or 3 stages, each stage is 2 weeks. this allows us space to create and opportunities for your feedback.

pricing: 2-4 weeks
it's time to finalise the construction budget with a contractor. pricing typically takes 2 to 4 weeks, allowing time for detailed cost estimates to be prepared and consultations with the teams. this stage is crucial for setting realistic expectations and ensuring that your garden design aligns with your financial goals. if you want several quotes for comparison, or like to negotiate with contractors, allow more time. this stage is also referred to as tendering.

approvals: 1-2 weeks (4-6 weeks if you have a pool)
obtaining approvals is essential. this may include permissions for construction in your area, making adjustments to meet regulations, or obtaining authority approvals if you’re building a pool. basic approvals or access permits take 1-2 weeks and, if a pool is involved, the process may take 4-6 weeks. in the UAE, every developer has their own requirements, so contact them in advance to understand their process for getting your NOC (no objection certificate) and entry permits for the contractor.

construction: 2-6 months
landscape construction for a garden design in Dubai can take anywhere from 2 to 6 months, typically. kit gardens are designed to be simpler and offer a faster turnaround time. with pre-designed elements and a streamlined construction process, kit gardens can be implemented relatively quickly.

some people find these timeframes surprising. we get it - we’re excited to get outdoors and enjoy the garden too. we’ve witnesses many projects rushed and frequently heard contractors overpromise and underdeliver and there’s nothing more frustrating.

cliché as it may be, a beautiful landscape is a journey and process. it requires time; it benefits from planning. the process can be a rewarding experience. like raising pets or children, we don’t do it to reach and end goal, we enjoy the stories and invested love that comes from that shared experience. this is a nature-based approach.

obvious caveat incoming… these timelines are based on 10 years in the landscape design and build industry and 150+ projects, but they’re still estimates. they can vary outside of the averages mentioned. we’re constantly improving how we collaborate to reduce timeframes, where there’s value.

key take-away: patience is key when it comes to creating your garden. we find the happiest clients lean into the process. they appreciate the deep work that brings the landscape to life. with the right design team and skilled contractors, your garden has the potential to transform your life and provide years of enjoyment.
